About Me

Baluch Art in Fashion Design

As a woman who grew up in Iran, I am intimately aware of the struggles we face in our quest for equal rights and social standing. Unfortunately, in my land, women’s rights are often violated, and we have been fighting for our rights for years. One poignant example is the limited freedom to choose the type of clothing we wear. The mandatory hijab, enforced by law, restricts our personal expression and individuality. This denial of choice extends beyond clothing and permeates various aspects of our lives.

In Iran, women have endured tremendous hardships in their pursuit of equality. Many courageous girls have been subjected to imprisonment, torture, and even loss of life while fighting against the mandatory hijab. The struggle for women’s rights is deeply rooted in our historical and cultural context.

The mandatory hijab enforced by law limits our self-expression and individuality. This denial of choice goes beyond clothing and permeates many aspects of our lives.

More than anything else, what inspired me to work in the field of clothing design is to introduce the oppressed and artistic women of my country to the world and to support them.

Baloch women have a special place among Iranian women, most of whom are highly skilled in creating traditional handicrafts.

Girls and women in the Sistan and Baluchistan, in southern regions of Iran are facing many challenges. The type of climate they live in and the lack of water have made these women more hardworking. Baloch female artists play an important role in their communities, but what makes them very unique is their art of Baloch embroidery and needlework.

For more than a thousand years, Baluch women have been crafting-embroidery and needlework using the ancient Iranian patterns with naturally colored fibers. Patterns full of color and sense of life, which are used to decorate women’s dresses, and in this way, Baluch girls preserve the ancient traditions with their embroidery and show the beauty of their cultural identity.

As an Iranian woman, I have decided to support and introduce Baluch girls to the world, and I believe that using Baloch needlework in modern fashion design, as well as respecting this original and historical art, is a way to empower these girls and appreciate the beauty of their art in today’s world.
